What is a field AGENT?

In QLD, a Licensed Field Agent is a person who has been screened by the QLD Government and legally permitted to carry out the following activities:

Find and Recover Goods
Repossess Vehicles
Discuss and Collect Debts in Person
Process Serve (Serve Legal Documents)

During the screening process, it is ensured that the person is of sound character and has no criminal history or financial instability such as bankruptcy or company receivership.

A Licensed Field Agent is a person you can trust and who is of reputable character, to discuss legal and confidential matters on your behalf, and who is experienced in the Mercantile (Collection) industry, with an understanding of legal processes and the legislation surround these matters.

WHAT is a field call?

A Field Call is when a Licensed Field Agent attends an address of an Individual, to discuss official matters where a phone conversation has not been possible or the person has been unresponsive to other means of contact such as email or post.

This may be in relation to:

Personal or Commercial Debts
Vehicle Repossessions
Legal Proceedings
Divorce and Family Court Matters
Delivering Subpoena's to a Witness
Delivering Urgent Messages
Delivering Legal Documents (Process Serving)

When do you need a Licensed Field Agent?

In QLD it is legislated under the Debt Collectors (Field Agents and Collection Agents) Act 2014 that a person must hold a valid Field Agent license to undertake Collections matters and Serve Legal Documents. There are many different documents that a Process Server can serve on your behalf.

In some circumstances, you do not need a Licensed Process Server to serve documents on your behalf, for example, with Divorce Papers, however you cannot serve your own Divorce papers yourself. It is highly recommended to use a professional process server in these situations for safety reasons and to get the job done quickly and efficiently.

A Licensed Process Server will remain focused on the objective, and is separate to the issue therefore the process can be a lot smoother.
